Transport and Logistics

About the course

The study course lasts 7 terms. The course is divided into two specialties (three from academic year 2018/2019): water transport means and water transport systems (additional specialty added in academic year 2018/2019: management in transport). Having completed the third term, the students select one of the three specialties. The subsequent 3 terms are dedicated to gaining specialized practical and theoretical knowledge. The final term is dedicated to the diploma thesis.

Possibilities of future employment

Graduates gain knowledge about the functioning of modern water transport and, in particular, the construction of the means of water transport (inland and off-shore), including passenger and cargo vessels. They are ready to solve design and organizational problems. They are able to plan traffic control and management systems, organize and manage processes of water transport. They are able to fulfil managerial posts in organization and supervision units. They are also prepared to work in small and large shipyards, marine and inland ports, harbour master's offices, etc.

Outline of the study program

The studies last 7 terms. First three terms are dedicated to gain knowledge on basic subjects, both general and technical. Study course anticipates 6 weeks long practice. After the third term students select one of two (three starting from 2018/2019 academic year) specialties. The subsequent terms are dedicated to gaining specialized practical and theoretical knowledge on the selected specialty. Sevnth term is dedicated to the diploma thesis.

Specialties

1. Water Transport Means

This specialty deals with design and operation of the means of transport: inland and off-shore vessels of various tonnages, tug and towboat sets, infrastructure, operation and diagnostics of water transport. .

2. Water Transport Systems

This specialty deals with the organization, planning and design of systems controlling water traffic. It also includes problems connected with the supervision and management of transport processes, logistics, maintenance, transport economics, diagnostics with safety and reliability of transport means and systems.

3. Management in Transport
