Research activity of the Section of Machine Design and Medical Engineering is concentrated in several fields:
- applied and basic research in tribology and bearing engineering,
- testing of friction and wear of machine elements,
- research of medical objects – material properties of natural materials, joints of natural materials, special medical materials and their treatment,
- methods of experimental testing of machine elements,
- condition monitoring of complex machinery,
- study of the phenomena of acoustic levitation (NFAL) of light objects,
- design and optimisation of unique machinery,
- computer aided design.
Section of Machine Design and Medical Engineering takes up projects aimed at design of unique non-standard machinery and modification of existing machinery with the purpose of increasing efficiency, decreasing downtime. In this field we also take up expert jobs aimed at troubleshooting increase of efficiency, reasons of failures, etc..
Section of Machine Design and Medical Engineering takes up projects devoted to field testing of machines and structures aimed at their improvement or finding the causes of malfunction.
Section of Machine Design and Medical Engineering has a unique laboratory equipped with specialized test rigs devoted especially to testing bearings and phenomena of friction and wear. The expertise gained in many projects, both of scientific and R&D character, makes us an efficient partner in application and purely scientifical projects.
In the Section of Machine Design and Medical Engineering tests of properties of various bearing materials and lubricants can be carried out. We can also offer the design of specialized test equipment.
Section of Machine Design and Medical Engineering can offer courses and lectures in the field of its specialization and expertise, i.e. machine design, machine testing, friction and wear, bearings.
