Division of Fluid-Flow Machinery

Division of Fluid-Flow Machinery conducts lectures lectures, seminars, laboratories and design projects regarding: steam and gas turbines,marine steam and gas turbines, turbine design, turbomachinery aerodynamics, fluid flow mechanics, turbine power plants, elements of thermodynamics, compressors, pumps, piston engines, steam boilers, unconventional sources of energy, nuclear turbines.

The leading research topics currently carried out in the Division:

Turbomachinery design, optimisation of the main design parameters of turbines, including CFD and artificial intelligence methods

Fluid mechanics, flow calculation, flows of bio-fluids

Optimisation of turbine power plant cycles

Wind  energy and wind turbine design

Water turbine, design and operation

Turbine dynamics, self-excited vibrations of rotor systems, turbine seals

Active control of flow and mechanical vibrations

Renewable sources of energy, distributed energy

Design of Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) systems

Design of mikroturbines and micro power plants (steam, gas and ORC)

Selected problems of human body flows, including non-newtonian fluids
