Division of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration conducts lectures both at the basic level (thermodynamics, heat transfer) and at the specialization level, in the field of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technology as well as polygeneration systems and heat recovery from energy or industrial processes.
The leading research topics currently carried out in the Division:
Microgrids integrating energy sources of electricity, heat and cold with energy storage
Work on refrigeration technologies with minimized environmental impact, for land and sea applications
Thermal and flow research of devices for heating, air conditioning and ventilation technologies
Micro-cogeneration in ORC technology, possibility to test steam microturbines or steam volumetric expanders
Research on the intensification of convective heat transfer during single- and two-phase flows
Experimental, analytical and numerical research to optimize the design of heat exchangers
Heat storage in PCM technology
Research on heat recovery in classic and hybrid air conditioning systems
Heat recovery from industrial and energy processes
Development work in the field of high-temperature heat pumps
Analysis of prototype solar collectors, design and analysis of solar systems cooperating with other energy technologies
The Division also conducts training and certification exams for employees in the field of refrigeration, air conditioning techniques and heat pumps
