History

The Section of Mechatronics was established at the beginning of 2021, during the merge and structure revision of the two faculties of Gdansk University of Technology: the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Sip Technology. The Section continues research activities and traditions of the Dynamic Processes Control Team which was established in 2003. This Team, later renamed Mechatronics Team, worked in 2010-2020 as a part of the Chair of Mechanics and Mechatronics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. In this period, the Team had accomplished 7 national and 3 international research grants and 5 Ph.D., 1 D.Sc. and 1 full prof. title were obtained.

The current scientific activities of the Section of Mechatronics focuses mainly on the supervision of dynamic systems and processes, especially in the field of modal analysis, vibration reduction and optimization of machining parameters during milling as well as in control of mobile robots. Since 2021, the Section's employees have participated or are currently participating in several national and international research projects, which resulted in publications in high-scoring journals and promotion of 2 doctors.
