Inauguration of the academic year 2021/2022
Due to the epidemic situation, just like last year, the central ceremony inaugurating the new academic year will be held in a hybrid manner. The list of direct participants of the ceremonial session of the Gdańsk Tech Senate has been limited, while all those willing will be able to take part in the inauguration thanks to the online broadcast available on the university's YouTube channel.
The Senate meeting will start with a welcome and inaugural speech by prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology. It will be followed by the awarding of medals and decorations, including the award of the title of "Personality of Gdańsk University of Technology" to the distinguished scientist.
In the next part of the meeting, the guests will listen to the inaugural speeches of the deans, followed by matriculation of students. The oath will be taken by the best newly admitted representatives of all eight faculties. This part of the meeting will end with the presentation of the award for the best student of Gdańsk University of Technology.
At the end of the ceremony, prof. Łukasz Sułkowski will give the inaugural lecture entitled "Digital University Management - Between the Utopia of Freedom and the Dystopia of Power". The scientist is the head of the Department of Management of Higher Education Units at the Institute of Public Affairs of the Jagiellonian University and vice-rector for research and internationalization at the Social Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.
The Academic Choir of Gdańsk University of Technology under the direction of prof. Mariusz Mróz will take care of the musical side of the ceremony.
This year, due to the ongoing pandemic, there will be no faculty inaugurations.
