Students Visit Sunreef Yachts: "Exploring Potential Career Opportunities"

Students in their third semester of Yacht Design and Construction recently visited the Sunreef Yachts shipyard in Gdańsk. This initiative is part of a collaboration between the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology and the company. Thanks to this partnership, students benefit from opportunities such as paid internships and traineeships, providing valuable hands-on experience in the industry.

"Visits like this are incredibly important; they give future engineers the opportunity to explore potential workplaces and understand the scope of their future responsibilities," explains Jacek Frost, the Internship Coordinator. "I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Sunreef Yachts for several years, and the company is always willing to welcome students for paid placements and internships," he adds.

The collaboration with Sunreef Yachts was formalised in 2021 to support the Yacht Design and Construction programme offered by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology.

Industry Expertise Embedded in Teaching

A significant portion of the programme is delivered by industry professionals, ensuring that students gain practical insights and real-world knowledge.

The programme was developed in partnership with Polboat – the Polish Chamber of Marine Industry and Water Sports, as well as prominent yacht manufacturers based in Gdańsk, including Aluship, Complex Jacht, and Sunreef Yachts, along with nearby firms such as Technomarine and Ostróda Yacht. The Polish Register of Shipping also contributes to the initiative, offering expertise in classification standards.
