Members of the “Mechanik” Student Club from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdańsk University of Technology took 1st place overall and won a total of 9 trophies in individual events at the final edition of Formula Student Netherlands 2025. This marks the team’s first overall win in seven years and the strongest season opener in its history. With more competitions ahead, they now have the perfect opportunity to add even more trophies to their collection.

Formula Student Netherlands is a prestigious engineering competition for student teams from around the world, who compete in designing, building, and testing race cars. This year’s edition was especially significant, as it was the last one ever held, bringing over a decade of the event’s history in the Netherlands to a close. According to the organizers, the decision to end the series was due to financial difficulties.

“Winning in the Netherlands means much more to us than just the number of trophies. It’s a symbol of ten years of our team’s development and proof that consistency, passion, and hard work really pay off,” said Wiktoria Sadłowska, President of the “Mechanik” Student Research Group and Leader of the PGRacing Team. “When we debuted at this competition three years ago, our car didn’t even pass technical inspection. Today, we return as overall champions. It shows how far we’ve come—technically, organizationally, and mentally.”

PGRacing Team’s overall victory was made possible in part by winning first place in the Endurance event—the most demanding long-distance challenge, which evaluates vehicle reliability and team efficiency and carries up to 325 points.

The team’s full list of achievements in the Netherlands:

🥇 1st place – Overall classification (combined score across all static and dynamic events)
🥇 1st place – Autocross (timed track run with turns – tests vehicle handling and agility)
🥇 1st place – Endurance (22 km long-distance run – tests the car’s reliability and the team’s stamina)
🥇 1st place – Efficiency (energy consumption during the Endurance event – lowest fuel or energy use)
🥈 2nd place – Engineering Design Event (evaluation of the car’s design and engineering decisions by technical judges)
🥈 2nd place – Skid Pad (figure-eight track – tests lateral grip and handling)
🥈 2nd place – Acceleration (75-meter straight-line sprint – tests the powertrain and traction)
🥉 3rd place – Business Plan Presentation (business concept for the car as a marketable product)
🥉 3rd place – Cost & Manufacturing Design (cost analysis and feasibility of the car’s production process)

The team’s previous highlights include a win at the Andorra competition (2018), a Business Plan Presentation podium in the Czech Republic (2024), and 1st place in the Engineering Design Event, also in 2024.

They’re not slowing down. After the Netherlands, the team went straight to Austria, where they took 3rd place in the Skid Pad event, competing against teams from around the world. They’re also planning to take part in upcoming competitions in the Czech Republic and Croatia.
