For a student of the last year of MSc studies or a doctoral student of any year of the Doctoral School, as part of the implementation of the project "Natural and mixed convection in mono- and bidisperse porous media".  

The following are required from candidates:  

  • having at least a professional title of engineer in the field of mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, mining and energy or related, 

  • analytical thinking skills, 

  • data reduction and visualization skills, 

  • ability to work in a team in the field of scientific research, 

  • knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, 

  • knowledge of AutoDesk Inventor/SolidWorks or related CAD software, 

  • knowledge of MatLAB environment, 

  • knowledge of LabVIEW environment will be an additional advantage, 

  • fluent knowledge of English and/or Polish, 

  • status of a MSc student or a PhD student at the Doctoral School at the time of signing the scholarship agreement. 

*In accordance with the requirements of the National Science Centre, a scholarship holder in the project may be a person who meets the conditions specified in the regulations for awarding scholarships to young scientists. 

Description of tasks:  

Participation in the implementation of the research project entitled " Natural and mixed convection in mono- and bidisperse porous media”, financed by the National Science Center in Krakow, grant OPUS 27, project decision number DEC-2024/53/B/ST8/02699 of December 4, 2024, at the Post-doc position.  

The project aims to provide experimental data that help to understand a heat transfer and fluid flow for Monodispersed porous media (MDPM) and Bidispersed porous media (BDPM) during natural and mixed convection. Various parameters are tested to create heat transfer characteristics in terms of Nusselt number in a function of Rayleigh number for various macro volume fraction, micro porosity, thermal conductivity ratio, and Richardson number. Moreover, the differences between attached and detached geometries will be researched and described. 

The main research tasks for this position are:  

  • building an experimental test rig, 

  • cooperation in conducting experimental research, 

  • cooperation in reducing and visualizing measurement data, 

  • preparation of reports on work for the Principal Investigator, 

  • cooperation in preparing scientific manuscripts, 

  • cooperation in purchasing equipment in accordance with the public procurement procedure, 

  • cooperation in designing test sections.

Employment conditions:  

  • the candidate selected in the competition must be a student in the final year of MSc studies, a doctoral student of any year of the Doctoral School at the time of signing the scholarship agreement, 

  • the scholarship is awarded for the duration of specific tasks in the project from the moment of concluding the scholarship agreement (expected date of signing the agreement – 01.10.2025); the period of receiving the scholarship is 12 months with the possibility of extension, 

  • the amount of funds for the scholarship is PLN 5 000.00 per month 

Candidates should submit the following documents: 

  • cover letter, 

  • CV containing information on the candidate's scientific achievements, distinctions resulting from conducting research and competences to carry out specific tasks in the research project, 

  • other documents confirming possession of additional qualifications,

Committee reserves the right to:  

  • conduct an interview with selected candidates who, based on the information contained in the submitted documents, were assessed the highest (selected candidates will be informed about the interview date by email),  

  • not decide on the competition.  

The expected date of selecting the winning candidate is 31.07.2025. The start of work on the project is planned for 01.10.2025. The selected candidate will receive a scholarship of PLN 5 000.00 per month for 12 months with the possibility of extension.
