FMEST and Baltic Towers join forces to train specialists for the offshore wind industry

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdańsk University of Technology has entered into a cooperation agreement with Baltic Towers sp. z o.o., a leading offshore company in Poland specializing in the production of towers for offshore wind turbines. The partnership agreement was signed on Monday, November 24.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Mariusz Deja, Dean of the Faculty, and Bruno Antunes, Member of the Management Board at Baltic Towers. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Marek Chodnicki, Vice-Dean for Cooperation; Prof. Wojciech Litwin, Director of the Institute of Naval Architecture; and Jacek Frost, also from the Institute. Baltic Towers was represented by Anna Arkuszewska, Michał Gębka, and Aneta Zielińska.

The collaboration aims to strengthen the vocational training of future offshore-industry specialists, particularly those involved in producing offshore wind-turbine towers.

“Partnering with one of the key players in the offshore industry gives our students a real opportunity to gain skills that are in high demand on today’s job market. It also provides momentum for further developing our modern curriculum,”— emphasized Dean Prof. Mariusz Deja.

Active Collaboration Between Industry and Academia

The agreement includes hands-on courses, internships, and training opportunities for FMEST students at Baltic Towers, as well as company support in developing the curriculum and providing academic guidance for thesis projects. Through this collaboration, the company will also have access to the faculty’s laboratories for research on new solutions, with students participating as part of their internships or practical training.

"We are confident that working with FMEST will allow us not only to support the development of future specialists but also to bring practical knowledge into the educational process. The offshore industry is growing rapidly, and well-prepared professionals are key to executing ambitious projects in Poland. That’s why active collaboration between business and universities is so important," said Anna Arkuszewska.

Baltic Towers Sp. z o.o. is one of the leading companies in Poland’s offshore sector, specializing in the production of offshore wind turbine towers. The company undertakes projects related to the energy transition and the development of offshore wind energy, supporting the construction of modern renewable energy infrastructure. Based in Gdańsk, Baltic Towers plans to employ over 500 people in the coming years.
