Professor Mariusz Deja on the "Jutronauci" Podcast Discussing Automation and Robotics

Jutronauci
How Will the Current Energy Crisis Impact Automation and Robotics? Will the current energy crisis accelerate the adoption of automation and robotics, or will things return to normal once the war ends? Why does Poland lag behind other European countries in this area, and what can be done to improve the situation? These and other pressing questions were explored by Professor Mariusz Deja, Vice-Dean for Collaboration at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdańsk University of Technology and Head of the Department of Machine Technology and Production Automation. Professor Deja shared his insights with Kasper Kalinowski on the "Jutronauci" podcast by Gazeta Wyborcza.

The current energy crisis may slightly slow down the process of automation and robotics, but when viewed from a broader perspective, this deceleration will be short-term, and the overall trend in automation and robotics remains upward. The benefits, such as reduced production costs, scalability, flexibility, and improved quality, outweigh the challenges. Investments will not come to a halt, remarked Professor Mariusz Deja.

When it comes to a country's technological advancement, education plays a crucial role. At Gdańsk University of Technology, we educate engineers who seamlessly integrate into modern industry. Undoubtedly, the level of education in technical schools could be further improved. Education should be flexible, equipping young people to adapt to changing conditions in the job market and thrive in their environment, he added.
