How to create an excellent e-learning course? E-TECH project will help
This was the main reason why the scientists from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology in cooperation with GUT Center for Modern Education developed the concep of E-TECH project, or "Comprehensive project for distance teaching skills and multimedia resources for technical universities in Europe”, which will help the European teachers to face the challenges mentioned above. GUT is the leader of the project and the university teamed up with Austrian university FH Joanneum Gesellschaft MBH from Graz and Italian university Universita Politecnica delle Marche from Ancona and Polish Society of Academic E-learning (SEA).
Members of staff dealing with technical science prepare e-learning courses, but they often lack skills in creating such courses - says Marek Chodnicki, PhD, ME from the Institute of Mechanics and Machine Construction. The key lacks we noticed include, for example scarcity of basic materials for a specific course, lack of a database including ready templates or examples of tasks to be solved.
Interactive guidebook
The authors of the project are planning to produce an interactive guidebook on e-learning and remote learning, prepare a corse for teacher on building an e-learning course and also to produce a model e-learning course on a selected specialized subject. It will all be complemented with an open-access multimedia bank for the teachers.
Within the project a modern, multimedia guidebook offering an accessible and attractive presentation of practical tips on designing remote classes and e-learning courses. We hope to create it in such a way that everybody will want to reach for it in order to find practical tips ready to apply as of now - says Alina Guzik, MSc, co-author of the proposal.
The proposal was developed by an inter-faculty team of experts including: Marek Chodnicki PhD, ME; Alina Guzik MSc; professor Mariusz Deja PhD, DSc, ME; professor Anna Lis PhD, DSc, ME; Iwona Mokwa-Tarnowska PhD; Maciej Zaremba MSc and GUT professor Anita Dąbrowicz-Tlałka, PhD.
The project received positive assessment and was granted with financing within the Erasmus+ KA226 Strategic Partnership for Digital Education in Universities.
