Navy-blue container, or Mobile Student Workship within the premises of Stocznia Cesarska
The workshop is not large, but it was designed in such a way as to fit in all the necessary equipment: it already has worktables or lockers with modern tools. The boats students will work on are not longer than 1 meter. The students build them and improve their constructions which are later launched onto Motława River water. The boats will be controlled and their behaviour will be closely watched from a deck on the roof of the container. This will allow our students to compete successfully in F5 class competitions.
Workshop is always accessible
Due to the fact that the workshop is mobile, it can be transported to the competition venue to give access to all the tools whenever they are needed. What's interesting, one wall of the container is made of glass. This will allow anybody interested to watch the students during work, while students can look at the industrial landscape of the shipyard.
Students and others
The container is mostly for the students learning design and construction of yachts and members of KSTO Korab science club, however, as it was mentioned before, it will be made available for younger pupils within the Politechnika Wielu Pokoleń program. They will learn how to build muscle-powered crafts and, perhaps, the workshops will help them find the path they will follow in future.
The project was financed within GUT participatory budget 2017.
The Mobile Student Workshop is suervised by Cezary Żrodowski PhD, ME from the Institute of Ocean Technology and Ship Technology. Stocznia Cesarska and Przystań Cesarska granted the access to the plot, electrical energy and promise to help in adapting the facilty for the needs of projects conducted with children.
