Over PLN 8.5 million funding for a new vehicle searching for sea mines TUKAN
The amount will be allocated to the construction of a prototype of a vehicle enabling the unmanned performance of mine defense tasks MD, in particular the recognition and identification of mine-like objects (MILCO).
New possibilities
– Thanks to the funds granted, the laboratory employees will be able to continue research in the field of underwater systems and develop a vehicle with completely new capabilities than the existing vehicles, including the Głuptak (Gannet) MD system, already in service with the Navy - emphasizes MSc. Eng. Natalia Jasiewicz, constructor at the Deep Sea Technology Laboratory.
About the project
The project concerns the process of detection, classification and identification of sea mines and improvised explosives using remotely and automatically controlled underwater vehicles. The reconnaissance vehicle will be adapted for launching from surface manned platforms and surface unmanned platforms remotely controlled by radio.
Research works concern increasing the operational capabilities of vehicles by equipping them with specialized sensors and software, ensuring the detection and classification of mine-like objects, range extension, resistance to mechanical stress, ensuring a high degree of automation of movement control and classification processes of detected objects.
The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Intelligent Development Program. It is implemented as part of the National Center for Research and Development competition No. 11/2020 for the implementation and financing of projects in the field of scientific research or development work for the defense and security of the state. The project will take three years to complete.
