Visit of Prof. Sabri Alkan from Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University to our Faculty | Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology at the Gdańsk University of Technology

During the visit, Prof Alkan gave an inspiring presentation in which he introduced his Alma Mater and discussed his scientific activities at length. The professor is a recognised expert in the field of tribocorrosion, with a particular interest in processes in seawater and in steels used in offshore structures.

We have been in scientific consultations with Sabri Alkan for a long time, mainly concerning the behaviour of steel in underwater conditions. During his visit to Gdansk, we were able to learn about the activities of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, as well as aspects related to tribocorrosion of metals working in water. The visit of a scientist from Turkey to our university marks the beginning of cooperation in the field of research on welded joints under water - said Jacek Tomków, PhD, from the Institute of Machine and Material Technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology. Joint research projects will certainly contribute to the development of welding and protection technologies for materials used in harsh marine environments.

The visit of Prof Sabri Alkan from Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University was not only an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, but also a milestone towards international scientific cooperation, which may result in innovative solutions in the field of materials engineering.
