Meet Another Graduate of FMEST
Career Path
I began my professional journey at Gdańsk Shiprepair Yard, undertaking an internship in the Production Preparation Department. In the following years, I worked as a designer in various design offices, both within and outside the shipyard. Later, I established my own business, which led to a collaboration with Conoship International, based in Groningen, the Netherlands. This partnership resulted in the establishment of the Polish branch, now operating as Conoship International Poland sp. z o.o. Since then, I have primarily focused on managing and developing the office.
What career opportunities does a degree from FMEST offer?
The study programme is designed to provide graduates with a broad range of career opportunities. The variety of specialisations allows students to pursue different professional paths in industry while also offering flexibility for future career changes. The degree prepares graduates for both engineering and managerial positions, with exciting job prospects available.
What did you learn during your studies?
Studying at the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology (later FMEST) taught me discipline and teamwork. The numerous practical sessions, including projects and laboratory work, allowed me to gain hands-on experience early on, equipping me well for a career in industry.
What advice would you give to first-year students?
Make the most of the opportunities the university offers—both academic and social. Get involved in interesting projects, attend extracurricular activities, network with others, and take advantage of internship opportunities during your studies.
Your greatest professional achievement?
I believe my greatest achievement so far has been co-founding a successful design office where we work on fascinating projects in a friendly and collaborative environment.
Projects undertaken
All the projects I have worked on have been interesting, but I particularly enjoy those that are innovative and conceptual, as they allow for the most creativity and problem-solving freedom.
