Career after WIMiO: Wojciech Ciupa

Wojciech Ciupa
Wojciech Ciupa, is the Head of the Project Office at FERCHAU – a company providing technical services in the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and IT. He graduated in Ocean Engineering from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology and shared his story with us as part of the "Career after WIMiO" series.

Until now, Wojciech has worked as a technologist at Gdańsk Shipyard and as a Project Manager at Galeon Yachts. Before becoming Head of the Project Office at FERCHAU, he worked there as a marine systems designer.

What opportunities do you think studying at WIMiO opens up?
Gaining solid knowledge in mechanics and shipbuilding is the foundation for a professional career in these fields.

We’re proud to share that a research project by Associate Professor Beata Zima, from our Faculty has been awarded funding in the 15th edition of the LIDER program, organized by the National Centre for Research and Development.

The project is titled "Development of a Methodology and a Prototype Monitoring System for the Assessment of the Condition of Shell Structures." Its main objective is to create an innovative methodology and develop a prototype system for evaluating the technical condition of shell-type structures—an essential aspect for ensuring the safety and durability of engineering structures across various industries.

FMEST graduate
Engineer Paweł Jacheć graduated in Ocean Engineering from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, specialising in Management and Marketing in the Maritime Economy. Today, he serves as the Director of Development and Sales at ITMORE, a company specialising in business process mapping and optimisation.

What opportunities, in your opinion, does studying at FMEST provide?

This is the ninth edition of the event, during which Gdańsk University of Technology opens its doors to students, alumni, and high school graduates interested in pursuing a career in the maritime industry.

Best Master's Thesis in Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture Competition

The Polish Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers KORAB, under the patronage of RINA – The Royal Institution of Naval Architects, announces a competition for the best master's thesis defended at FMEST in the field of ocean engineering and naval architecture: "The RINA-KORAB Student Naval Architect Award 2025"

Both thesis supervisors and authors of master's theses defended in the calendar year 2024 are eligible to submit entries for the competition. Theses submitted by the end of 2024 but defended by the end of January 2025 are also eligible. However, such theses will not be eligible for submission in the next edition of the competition.
