OFFSHORE 2022 Career Day - Catch the big fish!
The first edition of the OFFSHORE Career Day at Gdansk University of Technology is coming up. This is a great opportunity to talk to representatives of companies operating in the renewable energy sector, but also an important step in choosing a career path. We invite students and graduates, as well as all those interested in offshore wind energy who want to build a professional career in one of the fastest growing energy sectors in Europe today.

The event will take place on October 26, from: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, in the lobby of Building 30 (Institute of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology), on the first floor.

The organizers of the OFFSHORE Career Day are: Gdansk University of Technology's Offshore Wind Energy Center, Pomeranian Employers, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology and Careers and Alumni Office.

Sliding bearings lubricated with a magnetorheological fluid. An innovative project of scientists
Scientists from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology in cooperation with the scientists from Technical University Delft (The Netherlands) are conducting research on sliding bearings lubricated with magnetorheological fluid. During a visit in TU Delft, the researchers managed to launch another station for experimental research.  

Research in TU Delft was conducted with the participation of GUT professors – Wojciech Litwin representing the Institute of Ocean Technology and Ship Technology and Michał Wodtke representing the Institute of Mechanics and Machine Construction.

A scientist from Colombia on a visit to WIMiO. It is a specialist in the field of welding technology
On September 28-30, 2022, the guest of the Department of Technology of Structural Materials and Welding was MSc Andrés Mauricio Moreno Uribe, a graduate of the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander in Cucuta (Colombia) and the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte (Brazil), on a scientific internship. The Colombian scientist is currently involved in the research of underwater welding processes simultaneously in two leading research centers in this field in Brazil (the aforementioned Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais) and in Germany (Leibniz Universität Hannover).

MSc Andres Moreno Uribe is a specialist in the field of welding technologies, especially underwater wet welding with SMAW and FCAW processes: process stability, welding metallurgy, dissimilar joints, has extensive experience in laboratory work and didactics, and is the author of publications in renowned international journals and research work carried out in cooperation with companies.

MISTI Global Seed Funds

MISTI Global Seed Funds, of which MIT-Poland is a part, enable participating teams to collaborate with international peers, either at MIT or abroad, with the aim of developing and launching joint research projects. All general MISTI Global Seed Funds criteria, application and evaluation procedures apply. Through an annual call for proposals, the fund promotes the exchange between faculty and students at MIT and at universities and public research institutions in Poland. The maximum award is $25,000.

Are you an international student starting your studies at Gdańsk University of Technology in October? Be sure you know about the events we have prepared for you and your colleagues who are also starting their student adventure in Gdańsk.

At the beginning of each new academic year, Gdańsk Tech International Relations Office invites newly admitted international students (Polish and English-speaking) to participate in two important events: the Registration Week and the Welcome Meeting. This year all the newcomers and students from other Gdańsk universities will additionally be able to take part in a free guided tour of Gdańsk and a parade inaugurating the beginning of the academic year.

Consultations with a psychologist, workshops on mediation and cultural differences, and even yoga and mindfulness classes - the project "Hey, are you OK?" addressed to students and employees of Gdańsk University of Technology starts in September.

It will allow for a smooth change of gear at low speed and a step change of gear in the range of high speeds.

Scientists from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology of Gdańsk University of Technology have designed a hydraulic-mechanical automatic transmission for agricultural vehicles and working machines. It will allow for a smooth change of gear at low speed and a step change of gear in the range of high speeds.

The gearbox was designed under the Lider VIII program. The project was financed by the National Center for Research and Development. The co-financing amount was PLN 1 197 500.
