Prof. Mariusz Deja Appointed Vice-Chair of the College of Deans of Mechanical Faculties at PUT
Prof. Mariusz Deja, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, has been elected Vice-Chair of the College of Deans of Mechanical Faculties at Polish Technical Universities for the 2024–2028 term.
On November 21, elections were held for the new leadership of the Presidium of the College of Deans of Mechanical Faculties at Polish Technical Universities for the 2024–2028 term. The new leadership consists of:
Students Visit Sunreef Yachts: "Exploring Potential Career Opportunities"
Students in their third semester of Yacht Design and Construction recently visited the Sunreef Yachts shipyard in Gdańsk. This initiative is part of a collaboration between the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology and the company. Thanks to this partnership, students benefit from opportunities such as paid internships and traineeships, providing valuable hands-on experience in the industry.
"Visits like this are incredibly important; they give future engineers the opportunity to explore potential workplaces and understand the scope of their future responsibilities," explains Jacek Frost, the Internship Coordinator. "I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Sunreef Yachts for several years, and the company is always willing to welcome students for paid placements and internships," he adds.
Another deep-sea vehicle, "Ukwiał" has been delivered to the minesweepers
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology is contributing to national defense. On October 22, 2024, following successful acceptance trials, the team at the Deep-Sea Technology Laboratory handed over another "Ukwiał" deep-sea vehicle after it had undergone a major overhaul at the Faculty. The vehicle is now in use by teh Navy from the 12th Wolin Minesweeper Squadron of the 8th Coastal Defense Flotilla in Świnoujście, operating on project 207 P minesweepers.
The "Ukwiał" deep-sea system, equipped with a remotely operated underwater vehicle, is designed for detecting, identifying, and neutralising sea mines in waters ranging from 5 to 200 metres deep. It can also be used for a variety of observational tasks in the water and for basic manipulative operations.
